SCROLL DOWN TO PURCHASE.
The Wines:
2 bottles each of:
2022 Balcombe Vineyard, Block 1B Pinot Noir
2022 Weber Vineyard Pinot Noir
2022 Freedom Hill Vineyard, Coury Clone Pinot Noir
In any given vintage these are 3 of our top bottlings. In 2022 the vintage truly shines in the Dundee Hills and at Freedom Hill Vineyard. These are gorgeous wines that have the rare combination of being both supremely drinkable young, as that is the nature of the 2022 vintage and incredibly age worthy as these are vineyards of incredible pedigree that have either produced wines that have shown beautifully at around 20 years or more of bottle age (Balcombe and Weber) or the oldest wine we have made (2012) still tastes like a barrel sample (Freedom Hill). The Balcombe, Block 1B and Freedom Hill Coury Clone both sell for $75/bottle and the Weber sells for $60. That would put this at a retail value of $415.
The Deal: $280/6-pack all in. This is 33% off with free shipping if you want to look at it that way. This is wholesale pricing on wines that generally either normally don’t or never have gone to a wholesaler. This is obviously a sample pack that allows folks to take a look at unique wines that most people never even hear about let alone taste.
**If you’re already pot committed on Patricia Green Cellars or these wines and want to double up to make it a case, we’ll knock an extra $25 off the second 6-pack to make it $535. -CASE PRICE
The Vintage: In 2022 the Willamette Valley suffered the first valley-wide severe spring frost event in the industry’s 50+ year history. What we discovered was the ability of many of these sites to recover with secondary buds that were not pushed out yet when the frost hit. Some places not only recovered but thrived to an extent that almost doesn’t even seem possible. The Dundee Hills and Freedom Hill were the 2 locations in our cellar that made the greatest transition from the horrors of the frost event to an unbelievable harvest. The wines have lushness and structure with lower than normal ABVs. They will taste great as young wines and these three wines will all be drinking well more than 20 years from now.
Just in case you need a review: The incomparable Audrey Frick of JebDunnuck.com has to say about these 3 wines:
2022 Balcombe Vineyard, Block 1B: 96. A jeweled red hue, the 2022 Pinot Noir Balcombe Vineyard Block 18 has a bit more high-toned spice coming through over the darker pure fruit and is a touch more introspective in character, with a slightly more savory profile including darker cherries. The wine has a good deal of intensity and a more noble structure, with a sanguine, lightly gamey earth note through the finish. Drink 2026-2040.
2022 Weber Vineyard: 95. More lifted and slightly feral herbal spice lifts from the glass along with notes of fresh red flowers and fresh herbs. It’s linear, lifted, and refreshing on the palate and has a pastoral feel, with fine tannins and a note of dewy fresh earth. It’s drinking beautifully now and will drink well over the coming 10-12 years. I really love the freshness of this.
2022 Freedom Hill Vineyard, Coury Clone: 96. a bright transparent red hue and is forward in the glass with cascading notes of baking spice, bergamot, Asian spices, a hint of violets, and mixed berries. It feels lightweight upfront, but it has real tension in its underlying coiled tannins, while on the back palate, it has fantastic mineral drive. It should age with ease over the long haul and expand with time. Drink 2025-2040.
