Berserker Day 17 - January 31, 2025

We are trying to make it simple this year. 3 offers. Both of them at awesome discounts with shipping thrown in so calculating that back in later on. A mixed case of Pinot Noir made up from 3 excellent vineyards and a case of our Tempranillo Rosé which is probably one of the few rosé wines being offered up today. Hardly need more of an introduction than that. Patricia Green Cellars has been around for 25 years now and an active participant on the Berserker Board since 2010.  SCROLL DOWN TO PURCHASE.

Information on the wines

2022 Durant Vineyard, Madrone Block Pinot Noir: This block has been with us since 2012 when, fittingly in this case, we were assigned to it to replace the fruit from our regular block (Bishop) that we lost to a spring weather event. This is Dijon 115 Clone and what began as a block that made a luxuriously crowd-pleasing style of wine has now morphed into a suave Dundee Hill Pinot Noir that has the fruit backing to easily handle the 100% whole cluster fermentation we do with the fruit. This is a recent review from Audrey Frick (who is awesome) at Jed Dunnuck, “Juicy and offering more immediacy, the 2022 Pinot Noir Durant Vineyard Madrone Block is a ruby hue and offers pretty notes of supple, ripe cherry fruit, forest floor, and a hint of violet perfume coming through. It feels generous on the palate, with a delicate, rounded midpalate and a very appealing, weightless feel. 94.”

2022 Chehalem Mountain Vineyard, Wadensvil Block Pinot Noir: This is both the second and final bottling of this wine. This has nothing to do with this site or this wine. This is an historic vineyard being the first site Dick Erath ever planted in Oregon (back in 1968) and just a great vineyard literally across the street from the edge of the Ribbon Ridge AVA boundary. The Wadensvil bottling (of which we do a few) comes from our favorite section of the vineyard and was done with 40% whole cluster fermentation in 2022.  Again, from Ms. Frick, “Coming from the steeper site of the vineyard, the 2022 Pinot Noir Chehalem Mountain Vineyard Wadensvil Clone is a jeweled ruby hue and is expressive in the glass, with notes of rocky earth, ripe raspberries, pretty spice, wildflowers, saline, and mushroomy earth. It has a chiseled structure and persistent length, with its red fruit shining through. Drink 2026-2040. 95.

2022 Anderson Family Vineyard Pinot Noir: This is an unusual Dundee Hill site that we only began working with in 2019 so the tenure is short and 2022 represents our last vintage with this site. Things happen and sometimes you just can’t keep going with places even if they produce beautiful wines. Y’all are the beneficiaries of this! This is a 270 degree planted vineyard situated atop a tiny butte made of softball-sized and shaped basalt from an ancient landslide. It produces more sinewy and minerally Pinot Noirs than our other Dundee Hill AVA sites while still having that redolent fruit and sweet palate notes. This is a combination of Dijon 667, Pommard, Wadensvil and Dijon 115. One last note from Audrey, “The last year for this cuvée, the 2022 Pinot Noir Anderson Family Vineyard pours a bright medium red color and is very pretty on the nose, with ripe wild raspberries, candied flowers, sweet herbs, and a hint of leather. Medium-bodied, it carries lovely intensity and extract on the palate, with a very pure and linear feel that’s focused and lovely. Offering a lot of vibrant, ripe, crunchy fresh fruit, it’s a highly pleasurable wine to drink over the next 10 or more years. 95.

Package #2

Pink: 2023 Helen Dusschee Freedom Hill Vineyard Rosé of Tempranillo: Case for $228 We were never going to make rosé. I love rosé regardless of how trendy it has become (became?) Pinot Noir rosé? Not so much. I am sure there are examples that people really like and are really good but it is just not my cup of tea and not something we were going to do with what we consider to be a cellar full of high performing sites. But we were offered this sole acre of Tempranillo that was planted back in the early 2010s at Freedom Hill Vineyard back in 2020 and we have worked at polishing this bottling ever since. The 2023 is in the style of rosés I really like. It is fruity but not sweet at all, there is great acidity that makes it fresh and bright and there is enough gumption in the grape variety that the texture is vibrant. A bottle of this goes down really easily. Easily (EASILY) the Patricia Green Cellars wine I drink the most and the most often. This normally retails for $29 at the winery (it is available in a small number of states we have distributors in). That would make it $348/case. We will take $120 off of that to make it $228 shipping included. If the magic sales number for most rosé is $20 we have done that for you except with great wine from a great site!

Package #3

Blue: 2022 Wolves Above Blueberry Wine: 3-Pack for $90! This is the original blueberry wine that was done as a joint project between Jim and Kelley Fox. Between the 2022 and 2023 this is the more blueberry of the two with the 2023 being the more vinous. Still, this is a fruit wine with the soul of a red wine. As fun as the project has been it seems to have come to an end for reasons unrelated to our ability to make increasingly excellent stuff out of the fruit we receive.

We have been selling this for $50/bottle and I feel that’s been worth it. For Berserkers we are offering up a 3-pack for $90 all in (shipping included) so if you haven’t tried it yet you aren’t making a huge commitment to it and if you have you can get as many of these as you would like. It’s a super deal on a fun, unique, delicious and healthy wine.
